UNIT 11 - CLASSIFICATION
This unit focuses on Chapter 18 of Holt, Modern Biology.
1) For this unit, you will do a special project. Dr. Perkins will give you an organism. Your job is to make an 8.5" x 11" (small) colorful poster (if you need both sides, you may use them), which includes the Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus and Species for that organism. Posters will also include 1) Title: Common Name, 2) Reason your organism has its name and is in its categories: KPCOFGS, 3) Colorful drawing of your organism in its native habitat (explaining the location, climate, etc.), 4) Sexual reproductive cycle of your organism, 5) Food source for your organism, 6) at least one cool factoid about your organism.
DAY 1
2) Read pages 337 - 339, Chapter 18-1. Complete Section Review 18-1 questions. Write the question, write the answer in a full sentence and then skip a line. Include the Critical Thinking question. Title: 18-1 SECTION REVIEW.
3) Listen to the lecture below and take two pages of notes. Title your notes, "HISTORY OF TAXONOMY LECTURE"
4) Complete the Classification Activity (POGIL) below. Work with your desk partner (or on your own) to complete it. Some of the information required on this handout will come up on Days 2 and 3 of the unit).

5) Read pages 342-346, Chapter 18-2. Complete Section Review 18-2 questions. Write the question, write the answer in a full sentence and then skip a line. Include the Critical Thinking question. Title: 18-2 SECTION REVIEW

DAY 3
7) Read pages 347-350, Chapter 18-3. Complete Section Review 18-3 questions. Write the question, write the answer in a full sentence and then skip a line. Include the Critical Thinking question for full credit. Title: 18-3 SECTION REVIEW.
8) Dichotomous Key Activity; if you are absent for this activity, you need to do Review Questions 1-25 at the end of Chapter 18. Write the question, then the answer, and then skip a line. This must be in your binder with a note to DP.
DAY 4
9) Listen to the lecture below and take two pages of notes. Title your notes, "CLASSIFICATION SYSTEMS LECTURE"
